Product details

The Keltis Sivi Pinot, a masterpiece of Slovenian winemaking, embodies a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. This orange wine, crafted from the noble Sivi Pinot (Pinot Gris) grape, presents itself in a radiant, almost mystical hue that tantalizes the senses. With an alcohol content of 13.5% and a cellaring potential of 10 to 15 years, this wine reveals impressive complexity and longevity.

In the glass, the Keltis Sivi Pinot unfolds a multifaceted aromatic interplay. Notes of ripe fruits, underscored by subtle spiciness, create the first olfactory impression. On the palate, the wine surprises with a balance between ripe fruitiness and refreshing acidity, paired with a light tannin structure that gives depth and character to the wine. Aging in large wooden barrels adds a subtle, almost imperceptible woody note that rounds out the flavor profile and creates a pleasant texture.

Recommended Enjoyment Moments with Keltis Sivi Pinot

The Keltis Sivi Pinot is a versatile companion, especially suitable for upscale occasions. Its elegance and complexity make it an ideal partner for a fine dinner. It pairs excellently with fish dishes, whether it's a delicately seared salmon or a delicate trout fillet. It also showcases its full potential with meat dishes such as a juicy beef fillet or tender lamb. For cheese lovers, it is an excellent choice with semi-matured cheese varieties. The ideal serving temperature for Keltis Sivi Pinot is 10-12°C. Light decanting before consumption opens up the wine and allows its flavors to fully unfold.

The Keltis Sivi Pinot should be stored in a cool, dark place, preferably in a wine cellar or a specialized wine refrigerator. The optimal storage temperature is between 12 and 14°C. To preserve its quality and flavor intensity, the wine should be protected from direct sunlight and significant temperature fluctuations. With proper storage, this wine can develop and refine its complexity and flavors over the next 10 to 15 years.

Keltis Kelhar: Winemaking across Generations

The history of the Keltis winery, led by the Kelhar family, is a fascinating journey through time, marked by tradition, passion, and innovation. Founded in the late 1980s by Marijan Kelhar, after taking over the responsibility for the farm and vineyards from his parents, Keltis has evolved into a boutique winemaker that bottled its first wines under this name in 1989.

The Kelhar family, deeply rooted in the wine region of Bizeljsko in Slovenia, has an impressive history dating back to 1776 when they felled 17 mighty oaks to later build a wine facility. This building is now an iconic symbol of the winery and signifies the family's deep connection to their land. The Kelhar family has overcome challenges over the years, such as the phylloxera disaster in 1880, and has always adapted to changing conditions in winemaking. In 2007, they began focusing on organic production and built a new wine cellar. Today, the winery is led by Marijan's sons, Luka and Miha, with Miha taking the lead in the cellar. Their philosophy is based on passion, understanding, patience, knowledge, and hard work - values that can be felt in every drop of Keltis wine.
