Product details

The Vitovska is the indigenous white wine grape variety of the Karst region and parts of the Vipava Valley. It has a beautiful golden-yellow color and its aromas evoke orange marmalade, dried fruits, candied citrus fruits, and Mediterranean scents. It has an elegant and delicate body with a creamy taste. A rather rare and elegant wine with corresponding aging potential. It reflects the barren, rocky, and wild terroir of the Karst region in the mouth - with a creamy texture and a very subtle acidity that give the wine a unique character.

"We believe that even orange wines must preserve their varietal typicity, that's why we always adjust the maceration to the respective variety. Vitovska grganja is macerated for ten to fourteen days." The fermentation occurs spontaneously with natural yeasts brought from the vineyard. The wine then matures for at least two years in wooden barrels and then another one to two years in the bottle. Despite its alcohol content of 14.5%, you won't notice it in this wine due to its delicate body - it is very easy to drink!

Recommended Enjoyment Moments

The Vitovska is a very versatile companion to a variety of dishes. It pairs particularly well with Mediterranean cuisine, noble fish, meat, cheese, Asian and vegetarian dishes. Its elegant structure and fine fruity notes make it the ideal wine for wine-loving connoisseurs at a cozy dinner with friends. Recommended serving temperature: about 14 - 16 °C and use of elegant wine glasses (e.g. Zalto Universal).

This wine has a storage potential of at least 10 to 15 years. Store it in a cool, dark place to preserve its quality. The wine is unfiltered and made with minimal sulfur addition, emphasizing its naturalness and purity. Before enjoying, we recommend opening the bottle 2 to 3 hours in advance and letting the wine breathe to unfold its full range of aromas. Alternatively, you can also decant it in a carafe.

Renčel Boutique Winery:

At Renčel Boutique Winery, they have always lived in close harmony with nature. The ancestors also engaged in livestock farming and agriculture, but wine production was always the most important. Some time ago, Josko Renčel decided to focus entirely on winemaking. Therefore, they expanded their vineyards to ten micro-locations with a total area of around four hectares.

Working hand in hand with nature and following the principles of biodynamics, they produce indigenous varieties such as Teran and Vitovska grganja. Driven by curiosity to discover what this fertile red soil (Terra Rossa) and the unique Karst climate have to offer, they also began planting other grape varieties such as Sauvignon, Malvazija, and Pinot Noir.

The character of their wines is undoubtedly influenced by the wonderfully diverse Karst region where they are crafted. This limestone plateau, proudly stretching between the Gulf of Trieste, the Vipava Valley, Brkini, and the Soča Valley, feels both wild and homely at the same time.
